MANBIJ, Syria/ISTANBUL

Clashes have intensified between the Syrian Army and the terrorist organization YPG/SDF around the Tishrin Dam, southeast of Manbij district in Syria's Aleppo province, according to an Anadolu reporter on the ground.

Heavy fighting is ongoing between the army and the terror group around the strategically important dam, which remains under the group's control, the Anadolu reporter said from Manbij.

The dam is situated on the Euphrates River and hosts Syria’s second-largest hydroelectric power station.

On Friday evening, the Syrian army launched operations to remove the YPG/SDF terrorists from the western side of the Euphrates.

The group agreed to withdraw from parts of the area following the US involvement, but army units had to engage in further clashes to secure the sections beyond Deir Hafir.
