Following Iran's threat to attack financial centers, banks related to US in region, Citibank decides to close its branches
ISTANBUL
The US based lender Citibank closed its branches and financial centers temporarily from March 12 to March 14 "as a precautionary measure" amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.
The bank anticipates reopening all affected locations on March 16, while its branch in Mall of the Emirates, Dubai, will remain operational during this period.
Earlier this week, Citibank offered its employees in the UAE the option to work remotely, even from abroad.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has threatened to attack “economic centers and banks” related to US and Israeli entities in the region.
