ISTANBUL

Bahrain said late Wednesday that its air defenses had intercepted and destroyed 234 drones and 132 missiles from Iran since late last month.

In a statement, the Bahrain Defense Force said it continues to confront successive waves of what it described as Iranian attacks against the country.

No details were given about injuries or damage from the Iranian attacks, however.

The regional escalation has intensified since the US and Israel launched joint attacks on Iran on Feb. 28, killing around 1,300 people so far, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel along with Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries, which it says are targeting US military assets. Some of the attacks have caused casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, including airports, ports and buildings.
