Police detained four PKK suspects, including three Iranian nationals on Wednesday as part of an anti-terrorism operation in eastern Van province, according to the governor’s office.
In a statement, the office said provincial gendarme command units raided three houses of suspects in Baskale district and seized two long-barreled weapons with 106 cartridges, four clips, solar panel and metal detector.
In a separate counter terror operation, 37 suspects, including 12 women were apprehended within the last 12 days from Istanbul, Adana, Gaziantep, Ankara, Sanliurfa and Sirnak, a police source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media, said.
More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
