Two civilians were shot dead and several others wounded in separate attacks by the terrorist organization YPG/SDF in the city of Raqqa in northeastern Syria, Syrian media reported.

The two civilians were shot in al-Wadi Street and near al-Naeem roundabout in the city, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said, without providing further details on the victims’ identities.

The agency said several civilians were also wounded after SDF forces targeted the Saif al-Dawla neighborhood with rocket fire.

The attacks came as residents have taken control of the military security headquarters in the city and expelled SDF elements from there, according to Alikhbaria TV.

The channel reported that SDF forces set fire to their headquarters in the city amid chaos in the area.

More than 400 SDF members have defected in the city, a local source told the broadcaster.

These developments come as the group is reported to be in disarray, as Syrian army forces advanced against the SDF in Raqqa province.

The army’s Operations Command earlier said that it had taken control of the city of al-Tabqah and the Euphrates Dam west of the province after expelling the SDF forces.

In March 2025, the Syrian presidency announced an agreement for the SDF’s integration into state institutions, reaffirming the country’s territorial unity and rejecting any attempts at division.
