Americans celebrated the 238th Independence Day with fireworks across the country Friday, enjoying music, barbeques and various events.
In parts of the east, the festivities were held off due to Hurricane Arthur, which made landfall in North Carolina and affected some states in New England, causing power cuts.
In New York, thousands gathered in Brooklyn and Manhattan to watch the firework show in a good weather after the rain let up.
President Barrack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama hosted the U.S. soldiers and their families in the White House in Washington, where a crowd enjoyed the fireworks near the National Mall and Lincoln Memorial.
