Saudi Arabia records 39 new virus deaths

ISTANBUL

Saudi Arabia on Monday confirmed 39 more deaths from the novel coronavirus, which has taken a significant toll on people across the world.

A Health Ministry statement said 4,507 new infections were also registered over the past 24 hours.

The kingdom's tally now stands at 132,048 cases, including 1,011 deaths, and 87,890 recoveries.

The pandemic has claimed more than 434,000 lives in 188 countries and regions since originating in China’s Wuhan city last December. The US, Brazil, Russia and India are currently the worst-hit countries.

Over 7.94 million cases have been reported worldwide, while nearly 3.8 million people have recovered so far, according to the figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
