Jordan reports record daily coronavirus fatalities

AMMAN

As many as 62 new coronavirus fatalities, the highest single-day rise since the beginning of the pandemic, raised the death toll in Jordan to 1,029, the Health Ministry said Wednesday.   

A total of 4,658 additional infections recorded in the past 24 hours, pushed the count to 91,234, according to a statement.

A total of 8,769 patients have recovered so far, the statement said.

Since first being detected in Wuhan, China in December, COVID-19 has claimed over 1.21 million lives in 188 countries and regions.

Over 47.55 million cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries exceeding 31.69 million, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University.
