The Armed Forces of Ukraine have requested international assistance via NATO's emergency response mechanism to address the consequences of its war with Russia, the alliance announced.

NATO said the request was submitted by Ukraine's Support Forces Command through the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC), which is NATO's principal civil emergency response mechanism.

"Russia's aggression has severely impacted the civilian population and caused significant damage to housing, water, electricity, heating, and public infrastructure" in Ukraine

Kyiv is seeking assistance to strengthen its humanitarian support capabilities, including the supply of food, water and fuel, said NATO.

The requested assistance includes food storage equipment trucks, water tanker trucks and fuel tanker trucks, which are essential for delivering humanitarian supplies and maintaining the operation of vital services in affected regions, it added.

NATO said EADRCC has shared Ukraine's request with the Points of Contact for International Disaster Response in Allied and partner countries, inviting nations "in a position to respond" to coordinate directly with Ukraine's Support Forces Command.

The delivery and point of entry for assistance will be determined between the donors and Ukraine's Support Forces Command, it said.
