A Turkish-born taxi driver in Sweden was awarded by his company on Thursday for lending his credit card to a customer who forgot their own while trying to catch a flight at the airport.

The company, Taxi Kurir, awarded Omer Temel with 13,000 Swedish krona ($1,360) for his “heroic” action.

"We are proud to work with Omer," said Sadegh Banaie, assistant general manager for Taxi Kurir.

"I got this award on behalf of the Turkish nation," said Omer Temel to Anadolu Agency after the ceremony.

"I would like to continue o represent my country and people in the best way possible," he added.

Last week, Temel made headlines in Sweden for giving his personal credit card to a customer who had forgotten their wallet while heading to the airport for three-days business trip to Germany.

Temel was hailed as a hero for his action and hailed by both Swedish and Turkish people.
