BELGRADE, Serbia
Serbia detained more than 600 irregular migrants in a large-scale operation, the Interior Ministry said on Friday.
The special police held the operation after receiving a tip about an armed conflict between irregular migrants in the town of Horgos on the Serbian border with Hungary.
The capital Belgrade was also included in the operation assisted with helicopters and drones.
Interior Minister Bratislav Gasic also visited the scene.
The move came after the leaders of Serbia, Hungary and Austria signed a memorandum of understanding last week on strengthening cooperation to curb illegal migration.
The leaders expressed concern over a possible migrant crisis worse than the one in 2015.
