ISTANBUL
A train was derailed by an avalanche in southwestern Switzerland on Monday, with multiple injuries suspected, Swiss authorities said.
The train derailment, which likely caused injuries, occurred in the early hours in the village of Goppenstein in the canton of Valais, police said on the social media platform X.
Swiss Federal Railways also confirmed the accident, underlining that it was caused by an avalanche.
The rescue operations are reportedly ongoing.
