Montenegro confirms 267 new coronavirus cases

PODGORICA

Montenegro confirmed 267 new cases of the coronavirus, health authorities announced on Saturday.

There have been no deaths in the last 24 hours, said the Institute of Public Health (IPH).

A total of 104 of the infected people are from the capital Podgorica.

"Since yesterday's cross-section, no deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported to the institute. The total number of deaths related to COVID-19 infections since the beginning of June is 675, and since the beginning of the year 684," the statement said.

Some 234 people reportedly recovered over the past day.

The total number of active COVID-19 cases in Montenegro is 9,232. The tally of overall infections has reached 48,856.

The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed nearly 1.83 million lives in 191 countries and regions since last December.

Over 84.22 million cases have been reported worldwide, including more than 47.45 million recoveries, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.

The US, India, and Brazil remain the worst-hit countries in terms of infections.
