ATHENS
Greek premier on Friday discussed Syria with Jordanian king and Qatari emir in separate phone calls.
During the calls with King Abdullah II of Jordan and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Kyriakos reiterated that Greece supports the unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria and stressed the need to protect all religious minorities in Syria, a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office said.
Dictator Bashar Assad, who ruled Syria with an iron fist for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia last Sunday after anti-regime groups seized control of Damascus. The takeover came after Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) fighters captured key cities in a swift offensive that lasted less than two weeks
