Greece this year saw its third-hottest summer in the last 65 years, the National Observatory of Athens announced Tuesday.

The summer of 2025 exceeded the normal temperatures for the season across the country, with June coming in as the second-hottest since 1960, said the observatory’s meteorological department.

While July was the fourth-hottest month on record, August was closest to the normal temperatures for August, it added.

Overall, 70 of 92 summer days were above the 1991-2020 average for the same season.

The department underlined that average summer temperature in country from 1960 to 2025 rose by 2.4C (4.32F).
