ATHENS
Greek authorities arrested at least five police officers over allegations of involvement in human smuggling, said official media on Monday.
Investigation of the officers, who were serving at the Didymoteicho Border Guard Department in the northeastern Evros region bordering Türkiye, is being carried out by the Interior Ministry, said state-run AMNA news agency.
The arrests come after a months-long investigation by the Greek Police through telephone monitoring.
A detailed announcement is expected after the completion of the investigation.
