Germany deploys 2 Patriot batteries to eastern Poland airport
Jasionka Airport is crucial to transmit Western aid to Ukraine, notes Polish defense minister

ATHENS
Germany has deployed two Patriot air-defense batteries to Jasionka Airport in eastern Poland, a critical hub for Western military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, Poland’s Defense Ministry announced Thursday.
Polish Deputy Premier and Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz underscored the airport's importance during a joint press conference with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius. Over 90% of aid destined for Ukraine transits through Jasionka, he noted.
“It is very important that we support each other within the alliance,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said.
“Countries are safe when three principles are met: the strength of society, the strength of its own army, and the strength of the alliance.”
Enhanced Airspace Security
Kosiniak-Kamysz also disclosed that Germany plans to deploy Eurofighter jets to patrol Polish and Romanian airspaces, further bolstering NATO's regional defense capabilities.
“Poland and Europe are safer today thanks to the effectiveness of NATO,” he said. “Freedom needs the strength of the alliance, support, and determination.”
