Denmark’s former foreign intelligence chief has been charged with leaking "highly classified information" to six people, including two journalists, over the course of up to 17 months, local media reported on Friday.

Lars Findsen was accused of disclosing state secrets important to national security on several occasions, the Local quoted the prosecutor’s office as saying.

Findsen, however, denies any wrongdoing, saying he "never divulged any state secrets."

He was the Danish Defense Intelligence Service (FE) from 2015 until he was suspended in August 2020.
