ISTANBUL

Brussels signed a development cooperation agreement Tuesday with the Ramallah and al-Bireh governorates in Palestine, according to Belga News.

The parties are committed to solidifying the social, economic, scientific, environmental and sanitary conditions of the inhabitants of Ramallah and al-Bireh, in the West Bank, it said.

The agreement will focus on the development and preservation of historical heritage, social rights, and combating social exclusion.

The Brussels Capital Region designated in December 2022 the occupied Palestinian territories as a "priority area for development cooperation."
