British man charged with 11 counts of attempted murder over train stabbings
Anthony Williams, 32, from Langford Road, Peterborough, remanded in custody after appearing at magistrates’ court
LONDON
A 32-year-old British man on Monday was charged with 11 counts of attempted murder over a series of knife attacks on trains that left 10 people injured.
Anthony Williams, 32, from Langford Road, Peterborough, was remanded in custody after appearing at a magistrates’ court.
He has been charged with 10 counts of attempted murder, one count of actual bodily harm, and one count of possession of a bladed article in connection with the Saturday evening knife attack on the Doncaster to London King’s Cross train service.
British Transport Police said he has also been charged with another count of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article relating to an incident on a London train in the early hours of Nov. 1
Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy said in a statement: “Our investigation is also looking at other possible linked offences. Following the charges authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service I would stress the importance of not saying or publishing anything which might jeopardise or prejudice ongoing criminal proceedings, or the integrity of the investigation."
He is due to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on Dec.1.
On Monday, Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander told Sky News that one victim of the attack, originally suffering life-threatening injuries, was now in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
