ATHENS

At least one irregular migrant has died in a car accident in Bulgaria, local media reported on Monday.

The car, carrying 16 migrants, crashed into a concrete road barrier and overturned near the village of Aldomirovtsi, 50 miles (80 kilometers) west of the capital Sofia, while trying to dodge a police chase, said state-run BTA news agency.

The migrants in the car were nationals of Afghanistan or Iran, while the driver is a Serbian national.

At least five of the migrants were hospitalized due to injuries from the accident.
