Algerian authorities evacuate 260 families amid floods

ALGIERS, Algeria
Algerian authorities have evacuated some 260 families amid floods in the southwestern province of Bechar, local media reported.
The families were “evacuated from the flood-prone areas as a precautionary measure against the dangers of the floods," according to the Algerian state news agency APS.
Since Monday, the Bechar province and other provinces saw heavy floods caused by the torrential rains.
The Interior Ministry recorded 120 millimeters of rains in the Bechar province over the past 24 hours.
Three people have so far died from the floods in the provinces of Bechar and Tamanrasset, according to the Algerian civil protection service.
