Turkey and Finland have great potential in the energy sector, said Lenita Toivakka, the minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade during the Turkey-Finland cleantech networking forum in Ankara Wednesday.
'Trade between the two countries has grown despite economic challenges of the past years,' Toivakka said, and added that the countries have similarities being active participants in the global economy and with both having forward looking, export-oriented economies.
Toivakka said that bilateral trade outlook seems promising in energy as well as in other sectors.
The ten companies from Finland at the forum pose great partnership opportunities for companies in Turkey, she added.
'Turkey has a very ambitious energy policy and Finland has strong expertise in energy efficiency and energy technology, meaning that there is great opportunity for both countries to learn from each other and form partnerships,' she said.
She explained that Finland is a small country but is highly competent in clean energy and related sectors.
Turkey's Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci also said that by benefiting from Finland's clean energy technology, Turkey hopes to improve relations and further carry out investments in the relevant sectors.
