E.ON, one of the world's largest investor-owned power and gas companies, has completed another utility-scale solar project in the United States, the company announced Wednesday.
According to the announcement, Maricopa West, the 28 megawatt photovoltaic farm in Kern county in southern California was completed ahead of schedule, under its budget of €50 million ($53.29 million) and is now fully operational.
A tracking system ensures that its 89,000 panels are always oriented toward the sun.
This recent project, which is the second solar farm that E.ON has built in California, is part of E.ON plans to develop more major solar projects in the United States through E.ON Solar, its San Francisco-based subsidiary. E.ON has completed several such projects in Arizona.
E.ON is an international privately-owned energy supplier based in Germany.
