Türkiye's natural gas imports increased by 2.60% in September, compared to the same month in 2023, according to data from Türkiye's energy watchdog on Thursday.
Natural gas imports in September reached 3.37 billion cubic meters (bcm), up from approximately 3.29 bcm last year, Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly natural gas market report.
In September, 2.99 bcm of imports were made through pipelines and 384.80 million cubic meters (mcm) was imported via liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Russia was the largest natural gas supplier to Türkiye, providing 1.44 bcm, while Azerbaijan and Iran followed with 1.03 bcm and 510.95 mcm, respectively.
Algeria exported 384.80 mcm of LNG to Türkiye in September.
- Gas consumption rises by 6.03%
The country's total gas consumption decreased to 2.92 bcm in Sept., down by 4.07% compared to the same period last year.
Household consumption rose by 6.03% to 302.60 mcm in September, while gas consumption in power plants decrease by 2% to 1.02 bcm during the same period.
The natural gas storage volume in September declined by 11.6% to around 4.81 bcm, compared to 5.45 bcm in September 2023.
