Turkey's natural gas imports increased by 3.7% in August compared to the same month of 2018, according to Turkish energy watchdog's data.
Imports increased to 3.15 billion cubic meters (bcm) in August from 3.03 bcm in August 2018, Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly natural gas market report.
The country imported 2.35 bcm of natural gas via pipeline, while 0.80 bcm was purchased as LNG in August, EMRA's data shows.
Turkey's total gas consumption decreased by 12.8% to approx. 2.55 bcm this August from around 2.93 bcm in August 2018.
The amount of natural gas in storage decreased by nearly 14% to 2.79 bcm in August this year from 3.25 bcm in August last year.
Gas production decreased to 32.2 million cubic meters (mcm) over the same period, down from 33.6 mcm in August 2018.
