US stocks close Tuesday mixed
VIX volatility falls 1.9% to 13.23
ISTANBUL
US stocks closed mixed on Tuesday.
The Dow Jones was up almost 32 points, or 0.08%, to finish the day at 38,884. The S&P 500 rose nearly seven points, or 0.13%, to 5,187.
The Nasdaq, on the other hand, decreased 16 points, or 0.1%, to end the session at 16,332.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 1.9% to 13.23. The 10-year US Treasury yield lost 0.6% to 4.459%.
The dollar index rose 0.3% to 105.37, while the euro decreased 0.12% to $1.0755 against the greenback.
Precious metals were down, with gold losing 0.4% to $2,314 per ounce and silver trimming 0.7% to $27.26 an ounce.
Oil prices were almost flat, with global benchmark Brent crude at $83.27 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $78.56 a barrel.
