US annual inflation remains unchanged at 2.4% in February
Monthly inflation also matches estimates, rising 0.3% compared to January
ISTANBUL
The annual inflation rate in the US was 2.4% in February, matching market estimates, and unchanged from the previous month, according to official data released on Wednesday.
According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the monthly inflation rate was 0.3%, up from January's 0.2%, and matching expectations.
Food prices rose 3.1% on a yearly basis, while energy prices increased 0.5%.
The core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, also eased, increasing 2.5% over 12 months.
Compared to January, shelter prices rose 0.2% in February, food prices increased 0.4%, while energy prices were up 0.5%.
The consumer price index figures were at 2.7% in December and November, and at 3% in September.
