Turkiye's Borsa Istanbul up 1% at close


ISTANBUL 

Turkiye's benchmark stock index ended Monday at 2,003.20 points, up 1.01% from the previous close.

Starting the week at 2,004.29 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index earned 20.02 points from Friday's close of 1,983.18 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 1,992.6 points, while its daily high was 2,009.39.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.6 trillion Turkish liras ($117.8 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 28.87 billion Turkish liras ($1.8 billion).

During the first transaction day of the week, 68 stocks on the index rose, 28 fell and four remained unchanged compared to the last week's close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA, and iron/steel producer Kardemir.

Energy firm Esenboga was the best performer, with its shares up 9.98%, while stocks of information technologies firm Indeks Bilgisayar saw the sharpest drop, 2.30%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,796.41 by market close.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $88.44 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).
