Turkish stocks up at open

ANKARA

Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.25% or 259.26 points to start Friday at 102,706.52 points.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 0.52% to close the day at 102,447.26 points with a daily trading volume of 9.05 billion Turkish liras ($1.57 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 5,6720 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, from 5.6840 on Thursday.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.2920, versus 6.2810, and one British pound traded for 7,0300 Turkish liras, slightly down from 7.0330 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent oil sold for around $60.37 as of 10.10 a.m. local time (0710GMT) on Friday.
