Turkish stocks up 1% at opening session

ISTANBUL

Turkiye's benchmark stock index opened at 2,065.70 points on Tuesday, up 20.54 points, or 1%, from the previous close.

On Monday, the BIST 100 index closed the day at 2,045.16 points after increasing 11.84 points, or 0.58%, with a daily trading volume of 34 billion Turkish liras ($2.5 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 13.80 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 13.8590 at Monday's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate was down to 15.5636 from 15.6640, while a British pound traded for 18.6525 liras, down from 18.8490.

Brent crude oil sold for around $81.3 per barrel as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
