BIST 100 index rises 0.40% from previous close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.7110

Turkish stocks start Wednesday up

ANKARA

Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day up 0.40% or 393.14 points to open at 98,421.63 points on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index increased 0.96% to close at 98,028.49 points with a daily trading volume of 5.8 billion Turkish liras ($1 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.7110 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, slightly up from 5.7100 at Tuesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.4060, versus 6.4080, and one British pound traded for 7.0990 Turkish liras, compared to 7.0950.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $64.60 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
