The Turkish benchmark stock index opened Friday at 10,063.70 points, surging 1.29% or 127.75 points from the previous close.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index increased 0.5% to close the day at 9,935.96 points with a transaction volume of 83.5 billion Turkish liras ($2.4 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) exchange rate was 34.8000 as of 10.07 a.m. (0707GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 36.8151, and the GBP/TRY rate was 44.3447.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,659.94, and the barrel price of Brent oil was around $71.97.
