Turkish stock exchange opens week on higher note

ANKARA

Türkiye's benchmark stock index, the BIST 100, opened Monday at 9,167.00 points, increasing 1.35% or 122.36 points from the previous close.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index wrapped up the week with a 7.81% decline, closing at 9,044.64 points and recording a daily trading volume of 162.2 billion Turkish liras ($4.28 billion).

As of 9.54 am local time (0654GMT), the US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) exchange rate stood at 37.9879, the EUR/TRY rate was 41.1843, and the GBP/TRY rate was 49.1854.

The price of one ounce of gold was $3,056.84, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $71.61.
