Turkish stock exchange hits new record high at weekly open
BIST 100 gains 67.03 points in Monday’s opening session
ISTANBUL
Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened the week higher on Monday, gaining 0.55% or 67.03 points to reach a new record high of 12,267.98.
On Friday, the BIST 100 index rose 0.93% to close at a historic high of 12,200.95 points, with a daily transaction volume of 157 billion liras ($3.65 billion).
As of 10 am local time (0700GMT), the US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 43.1415, the euro/lira 50.3830, and the British pound/lira at 58.0060.
The price of an ounce of gold was $4,578.70, while Brent crude oil was trading at $63.2 per barrel.
