ISTANBUL

The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the second trading day of the week at 10,871.08 points, rising 0.16%, or 17.64 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed early on Tuesday to mark the Republic Day holiday. It will also remain closed on Wednesday.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 10,858.67, slightly gaining 5.23 points from the close on Monday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 10,847.35, while the daily high was 10,920.51.

During the day, 37 indexes gained in value, while 62 closed the day with losses.

The total transaction volume reached 49.2 billion Turkish liras ($1.17 billion), while the overall value of the index was around 10.09 trillion liras ($240.7 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 41.9680 as of 01.00 pm local time (1000GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 48.9185, and the GBP/TRY traded at 55.8855.

The price of gold was $3,900.60 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $63.85.
