Turkish stock exchange ends midweek with gains

ISTANBUL

The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 10,914.65 points, up 0.53% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 10.874,18, the BIST 100 index climbed 57.48 points from its close on Tuesday.

The lowest for the index was 10,865.73, while the daily high was 10,953.03.

A total of 51 indexes gained in value during the day, while 46 closed in the red.

The daily transaction volume reached 113 billion Turkish liras ($2.66 billion), while the overall value of the index was 10.25 trillion liras ($241.98 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 42.4485 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 49.2190, and the British pound traded at 56.1520.

Gold was at $4,155.25 per ounce, while Brent crude oil was at $61.75.
