ANKARA
The number of persons employed in the construction sector increased by 3.9 percent in the second quarter of 2012 over to the same period of last year.
Turkish statistics authority, TurkStat, released Friday the construction sector labor force figures for the second quarter of 2012.
Accordingly, the number of people employed index in the building construction sector increased to 84.8 percent from 80.8 percent in the mentioned period.
The quarterly hours worked index in the construction sector increased by 2.5% in the second quarter of 2012 compared to the same quarter of the last year.
Hours worked index in the building construction sector reached to 80.9 percent, up by 3.5%.
Export unit index down by 7.6% in July
The overall export unit value and import unit value indices decreased by 7.6%, 5.2%, respectively in July 2012.
Turkish statistics authority, TurkStat released foreign trade indices for July 2012.
In the same month, compared to July 2011, the export unit value index for agriculture and forestry, fishery, mining, manufacturing dropped by 1%, 7.9%, 5.6%, 7.8%, as compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year.
In July 2012, the import unit value index for agriculture and forestry, mining, manufacturing decreased by 21.1%, 1.9%, 4.8%, respectively.
Turnover in trade & services up by 3.7% in Q2
Turnover in trade and services increased 3.7% in the second quarter of 2012 over the previous year and 13.2% over the previous quarter.
Turkish statistics authority, TurkStat released on Friday trade and services turnover index for the Q2 (April-May-June) of 2012.
Trade and services employment index increased 5.1% compared to the same quarter of the previous year and 3.8% compared to previous quarter, in the second quarter of 2012.
