ISTANBUL 

Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.33 percent or 296.77 points to open at 90,247.86 points on Tuesday.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 1.26 percent to close the day at 89,951.09 points with a daily trading volume of 4.79 billion liras ($893 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 5.3980 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with Monday's closing rate of 5.3610.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also rose to 6.1810, versus 6.1400 at the last close. One British pound traded for 6.9120 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 6.8620 by market close on Monday.

The price of Brent oil dropped to $57.31 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Tuesday, versus $58.40 at Monday's closing.
