ISTANBUL

Turkey's benchmark stock index fell by 0.94 percent or 861.65 points to open at 90,825.39 points Monday.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose by 0.54 percent to close the day at 91,687.04 points with a daily trading volume of 4.77 billion liras ($879 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate climbed to 5.5200 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with the last week's closing rate of 5.4840.

The euro/lira rate also rose to 6.3360, versus 6.3190 at the last close. One British pound traded for 6.9500 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY rate was 7.1050 by market close on Friday.

The price of Brent oil decreased to $59.69 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Monday, versus $60.75 at Friday's close.
