Turkey’s Bursa province to host major business summit

ISTANBUL

The 8th Uludag Economy Summit will open Friday in Turkey’s northwestern province of Bursa.

The two-day event, organized by Turkey’s Capital and Ekonomist magazines, will feature 100 speakers and host around 1,500 businesspeople from around the world.

A number of topics will be addressed covering industry, trade, manufacturing, finance and technology.

Among those attending will be chairpersons and representatives of foreign companies including Facebook, Google, P&G, Vodafone and Ernst & Young from countries such as the U.S., Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, Jordan, Nigeria, the UK, South Korea, the Netherlands, and China.

Prominent high-ranking officials who are expected to speak at the summit include Turkish Agriculture and Forest Minister Bekir Pakdemirli, former Deputy Prime Minister for the Economy Mehmet Simsek, the president of the Indian Chamber of International Business, Manpreet Singh, and the CEO of Qatar Finance Centre Yousuf Mohamed Al-Jaida.

The speakers will also include the heads of some Turkish private and state lenders, CEOs, world-renowned Turkish academics and the presidents of some business associations.

A start-up event called ‘Stars of the Region’ will also be held at the summit to provide investment opportunities for entrepreneurs.

The summit was attended by 1,300 people last year.
