ANKARA
Iran has halted an oil pipeline project in its Sistan-Baluchistan province because of alleged lack of security in the area, Iranian Labor News Agency reported Friday.
"It's not possible to maintain the construction of the pipeline because of security problems in the province," Reza Kediver, operating manager of the project, said.
Moreover, bandits stole construction equipment that prompted the country's interior ministry and security units to halt the project.
Sistan-Baluchistan province is located at the southeast of Iran and across Afghanistan and Pakistan borders. Many cases of robbery and drug smuggling have been reported from the area.
