ANKARA
The Turkish ministry for EU Affairs has provided public institutions with a total of 80 million euros in technical support over the last 10 years within the framework of a project titled "Support Activities to Strengthen the European Integration Process (SEI)".
The EU Ministry, which offers technical expertise for projects concerning Turkey's EU adhesion process, has provided support for more than 300 studies and activities conducted by public institutions and foundations in the last decade, a statement from the ministry said on Friday.
The ministry plans to allocate a further 30 million euros to such institutions in the upcoming term, the statement noted.
SEI project has been included to EU Pre-Accession Financial Assistance Programme since 2002 in order to provide support for short-term technical needs of institutions in matter of project preparation and harmonization to community acquis.
SEI are primarily used for practices of public institutions and foundations that have coherence and application liabilities for the EU regulations. Primary target areas for SEI are transportation, telecommunications, justice, judiciary and fundamental rights, financial services, environment, energy, health and industry.
