Borsa Istanbul’s benchmark index closes at record high
BIST 100 gains 0.63% as market capitalization tops 12.5 trillion liras
ISTANBUL
Türkiye’s benchmark stock index closed at a record high on Monday, rising 0.63% as gains in more than half of listed shares lifted overall market sentiment.
The BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul ended the day at 12,747.88 points, after opening the week at 12,740.72. The index gained 79.36 points from Friday’s close.
During the session, the index fell to a low of 12,700.33 before climbing to a daily high of 12,837.92.
The total market value of the BIST 100 stood at about 12.56 trillion Turkish liras ($291.5 billion), while total trading volume reached 197.1 billion liras ($4.55 billion).
Of the stocks included in the index, 53 ended the day higher and 42 closed lower compared with the previous session.
In commodities markets, gold was priced at $4,666.50 per ounce, while Brent crude oil traded at $63.50 per barrel as of 6.20 pm local time (1620 GMT).
In currency markets, the US dollar traded at 43.2690 Turkish liras, the euro at 50.3970 liras, and the British pound at 58.1210 liras.
