The technique of volumetric modular construction is gaining ground thanks to its advantages such as saving time, cutting surprise costs, and eliminating challenging geographical and weather conditions at the project site.

According to a Monday statement by Turkish construction firm Dorce Prefabrik, volumetric modular construction involves producing modules in an off-site factory environment and then putting the modules together to construct the building.

Volumetric construction provides five great advantages, the company stressed.

Less material is used in the assembly of each module compared to traditional building systems, while controlled use of materials in production helps avoid surprise costs, it said.

Volumetric construction projects are completed in a shorter time and meet cost estimates better than other types of construction.

Saying that this construction method eliminates challenging geographical and weather conditions from the project site, it said volumetric construction is more environmentally friendly and produces less waste.

The statement added that Dorce completed construction of its Aktogay Copper Mining Expansion Project – Worker Accommodation Camp in Kazakhstan at minus 40C (minus 40F) thanks to volumetric modular construction.
