ISTANBUL
Tunisian journalists who received two months of training in "International Journalism in Arabic" were given certificates at a graduation ceremony held at The Anadolu Agency's directorate in Istanbul on Friday.
The program, conducted by the agency's News Academy, provided a total of 20 journalists with 234 hours of classes on news writing techniques in the Arabic language, photography, video as well as using social media.
AA’s News Academy was established as part of AA's centennial goals for 2020.
AA has been holding seminars and certificate programs over the past two-and-a-half years, offering programs on the fundamentals of journalism, energy reporting and war correspondence, among other disciplines.
The program, which started on October 20, was run in cooperation with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency.
Hayri Cetinkus, the coordinator of the News Academy, said the program was not just training, but a project that will be a contribution to improving relations between Turkey and Tunisia.
"The journalists receiving training are cultural envoys for the two countries, and we aim to increase fraternity," said Cetinkus.
The agency’s international news chief editor, Hasan Oymez, spoke at the ceremony. He said that international journalism was a strategic occupation in removing barriers between brother peoples.
A Tunisian journalist Mohamed Amin Saydani said that AA had significantly contributed to important training programs.
