Dozens of candidates have been disqualified and some 760,000 people have been denied voting rights ahead of Myanmar's highly anticipated upcoming general election, a UN investigator said Thursday.
Yanghee Lee, UN special rapporteur on human rights in Myanmar, said in a report that the highest number of disqualified candidates are among Muslims from from where the majority of Myanmar’s 1 million Muslim Rohingya live.
