Seven divers who went missing off the Japanese island of Okinawa have been rescued, the country's coast guard said on Monday, according to local media.

After receiving a distress call from their diving boat, the coast guard had dispatched patrol vessels to search for the group, which included two instructors, Tokyo-based Kyodo News reported.

The missing divers were last seen in the vicinity of Rukan Reef, situated off the southern part of the island, said authorities.

All seven divers were sighted drifting in close proximity to the location where they were initially reported missing, with no life-threatening injuries.
