Indonesia on Thursday began granting visa-free entry to Turkish citizens, according to the state-run Antara News Agency.

Jakarta also announced visa-free access for Brazilian citizens.

Under the new immigration policy, Turkish and Brazilian citizens may enter Indonesia without a visa for up to 30 days. The stay cannot be extended or converted into another type of residence permit.

Visitors from the two nations may use the visa scheme for tourism, business meetings or medical treatment.

The move comes amid deepening bilateral ties between Indonesia and Türkiye.

In February, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a state visit to Indonesia, where he and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto co-chaired the first High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting.

During the summit in Bogor, the two leaders held intensive discussions and signed 13 landmark agreements covering trade, defense, media, education, health and other sectors.
