5.6 magnitude earthquake strikes Myanmar-India border

ANKARA

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.6 struck the India-Myanmar border region on Friday, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre said.

The quake originated in the Mawlaik region of Myanmar at 11.26 am local time (0456GMT) at a depth of about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) it said.

Mawlaik town is located in Myanmar's Sagaing Region along the border with India.

Tremors were also felt in the Indian city of Aizawl.

There have been no reports of damage or casualties so far.
